The NFL's latest decision could give the Kansas City Chiefs a major advantage should they advance to the next round of the playoffs.

On Saturday morning, New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the playoff game between the Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers would be postponed until Monday, Jan. 15 at 4:30 p.m. ET due to inclement weather. The game was slated for Highmark Stadium on Sunday, but the state will be implementing a travel ban due to dangerous conditions related to snowfall.

So, what does any of this have to do with the Chiefs?

If the Chiefs defeat the Miami Dolphins on Saturday night and advance to the divisional round of the playoffs, they'll have three possible opponents. If the Steelers defeat the Bills on Monday afternoon, Kansas City will play the winner of the playoff game between the Houston Texans and the Cleveland Browns.

Where this would impact K.C. is if Buffalo emerges victorious over Pittsburgh on Monday. In that case, the Chiefs would travel to Highmark Stadium to face the Bills in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs. With Kansas City playing on Saturday night for the NFL's Super Wild-Card Weekend, this will create a huge rest advantage for the Chiefs. They'd have two full days of rest more than Buffalo would have ahead of the divisional round game no matter when the NFL schedules it.

Obviously, the Chiefs will have to go through a tough Dolphins team to get to the AFC divisional round first to even have a shot at this advantage. It'd certainly take the edge off of Patrick Mahomes having to play in the first road playoff game of his career to have a few days extra to rest and recover after the wild-card round.
