Chiefs defensive lineman Charles Omenihu isn't going to waste time feeling sorry for himself following Kansas City's defeat in Super Bowl LIX.

Omenihu has faced a lot of obstacles over the past two years. In 2023 he missed the first six games of the season due to a suspension, then tore his ACL in the AFC Championship Game later that year.

That would cost him the first 11 games of the 2024 season, which was supposed to be a crucial contract year for him. Omenihu made a positive impact on the Chiefs' defense when he returned, but he didn't have enough time put up significant statistics.

Now, instead of potentially securing a multi-year contract, he'll likely need to prove himself all over again on a one-year deal. The good news for Omenihu is that he is entering the offseason fully healthy and with no distractions, which he took to X to express his excitement about.

Omenihu also joined Fox Sports 1's  "The Facility" on Thursday and said that whether he's still a Chief or not next year, he knows the team will bounce back strong from their Super Bowl loss.

"It's a learning experience for all of us that was involved in the game," Omenihu said. "I want to say that this won't be something that will linger on in the organization. I think they'll take it in. We'll all take it in, chew it up, spit it out, and be ready for next year. And there'll be a fire across everybody in that building to get back to that point. I think in all of it, it was bad. It was embarrassing. It's not something that anybody on the planet ever thought was going to happen, but you can use it as a tool to like kind of learn to go into the offseason. People use bulletin board material to fire them up and get them going, you can use that for next year, and come out guns blazing."

The Chiefs have a lot of tough decisions to make ahead of free agency. Not only is Omenihu one of their key players that is set to test the market, but so is offensive guard Trey Smith and safety Justin Reid. In Omenihu's case, he could have the best odds of the three to return since he will likely take a short-term deal. Still just 27-years-old, Omenihu should have a lot of good football left in him.
