It's easy to forget about all of the other talented wide receivers the Ohio State Buckeyes have on their roster because of how polarizing Marvin Harrison Jr. is.
However, there is one other guy on that team, at least, that is worth noting. The Kansas City Chiefs will likely be at the end of the first round in the 2024 draft, so wide receiver Emeka Egbuka could be around when it's their turn to pick. And, as we all know, the Chiefs love them some wide receivers.
Sure, they took Skyy Moore last season and Rashee Rice this year, but Andy Reid wants to continue to build his work receiver room into something young and scary. The plan is to always have weapons around Mahomes, but an abundance of them, too.
Ohio State WR Emeka Egbuka
Height: 6’1″
Weight: 205 pounds
Current Year: Junior
Egbuka isn't projected to go near as high as his running mate, but he will likely be a Day 1 receiver. The Chiefs could use his skill and talent to perfection. Egbuka had 1,151 yards on 74 catches last season, with 10 touchdowns to go along with it.
Strengths
Egbuka has a great feel about knowing where to sit in a zone and break off his route. He has an instinctive feel for spacing when playing against zone defenses, very similar to the way Travis Kelce plays. Egbuka can run the full route tree and is great at using his whole body to sell a direction in a route. His head fakes, hand usage, and shoulders oftentimes keep the defensive back guessing where he will go.
The young receiver is very good after the catch, which is something the Chiefs prioritize. The long strides certainly help. He is also a guy that can take hits. His lean frame wouldn't suggest that he is as tough as he is.
Weakness
As far as weaknesses, he isn't the strongest guy in the world. He isn't going to win every contested jump ball, per se. He isn't a great blocker, and his hands could definitely use some work. Egbuka tends to use his chest, or frame rather, to catch passes when going over the middle of the field, and it can often get him in trouble.
