The Chiefs need a new No. 2 wide receiver, and unfortunately, they need one soon. This Super Bowl window is about as large as one can be when you have a quarterback like Patrick Mahomes. However, you need to surround him with good weapons, as well.

Obviously, the Chiefs have good pass-catching options in Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, but they need more. No, that is not being greedy, it's called being logical. The Chiefs need someone who can step up when the other two are simply not having a good game. The original plan was for Mecole Hardman to be that guy, but that plan has not come along as fast as they would have liked.

However, there is one guy who can help improve the Chiefs offense heading into the 2022-2023 NFL season.

Signing Allen Robinson would give the Chiefs offense a tremendous boost

Robinson has gotten a lot of hate over the last few years due to his lack of production. However, in reality, he has been on some bad teams with bad quarterbacks.

I'd like to take it all the way back to 2015 when the Jacksonville Jaguar version of Robinson tallied 1,400 yards receiving by catching passes from Blake Bortles. Even the year before last, Robinson racked up 1,250 yards and six touchdowns on 102 receptions despite being saddled with Nick Foles and Mitch Trubisky in Matt Nagy's offense.

It is safe to say Robinson is a good receiver. He just hasn't had the best opportunities to fully showcase what he can do.

There were even times last year when he had to prepare for a game not knowing who his quarterback was going to be. This year, he dealt with a bad Andy Dalton and a rookie in Justin Fields with a terrible offensive line. Those issues will make any receiver look bad, at the end of the day.

Robinson saw 150+ targets from 2019-2020 just to see them drop all the way down to 66 in 2021. That's going from over nine targets per game to just 5.5 in 2021. It is obvious the Bears offense was the issue, not Robinson.

Robinson would fit perfectly on the Chiefs. Kansas City is known for having a ton of speed, which is great, but they need someone who can work the middle/underneath as both an intermediate and possession threat. They need guys who have great hands and can run crisp routes. Robinson can do all of those things.

It would be a luxury to have him as the second receiver in this team, and the third receiving option. Allen would definitely be an upgrade over Hardman and even Sammy Watkins the last few years. He could also be considerably affordable with some cap movement.
