Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid provided his typical postgame injury update after the team's Week 5 win over the Minnesota Vikings.

There was, of course, one big injury during the game. Travis Kelce left around halftime after suffering a non-contact lower-body injury. They initially thought it might be a foot injury, but it turned out to be an ankle sprain. Reid confirmed the injury to Kelce and two other injuries, which were also of the minor variety.

"Alright, just a couple of injuries here," Reid said. "Travis (Kelce) hurt his ankle and came back in and finished. Drue Tranquill likewise, hurt his knee, finished (the game). Mike Danna hurt his ribs that last series, but ended up having a sack on the last play."

Reid explained that the theme of the game was players toughing out injuries and rallying to help lead the team to victory

"That's kind of the epitome of what went on this afternoon here," Reid said. "The guys really played hard and aggressive as a team. There were some tremendous individual efforts and overall."

As for Kelce's injury, Reid wasn't sure at first that he'd return to the game. He had effusive praise for Kelce and the team's athletic training staff for how they handled the situation.

"No it wasn't clear," Reid said. "Until he came out and told me, you guys probably so that. He said, 'Just give me a minute. I'm going to get this (ankle) right.' He did a bunch of drills on his own there, just working with it. Our training staff was working with him during halftime. Rick (Burkholder) does a great job. He's very amazing."

Reid wasn't the only one who didn't exactly know what was going on with Kelce. Patrick Mahomes knew that he was hurting, but he also knew that No. 87 would try his hardest to get back into the game. How did he know? Because Mahomes and Kelce are a lot alike it seems.

"I knew he was trying to get back in," Mahomes said of Kelce. "I feel like Travis has the same mindset as I do. If you give him a window to get back in the game, he's going to get back in the game. So, he's a competitor, man. That's why he's one of the greatest. He'll battle through stuff like that and he came back."

We'll see if anything else crops up on a short week with "Thursday Night Football" against the Denver Broncos on deck. For now, it seems like they escaped Week 5 in pretty good shape.
