Chiefs HC Andy Reid provides latest injury updates on two key offensive players heading into pivotal Week 11 game vs. Broncos
Andy Reid spoke to reporters about injuries to RB Isiah Pacheco and RT Jawaan Taylor.
The Kansas City Chiefs are getting back into the swing of things after their Week 10 bye week. They have an important week of preparation coming up as they face the current AFC West division leader, the Denver Broncos, in Week 11. It’ll be their first time playing against the Broncos this season, and their first meaningful game against Denver since Week 10 of the 2024 NFL season.
Andy Reid confirmed to reporters that coaches returned to the building on Monday, Nov. 10. Players won’t return until Tuesday, Nov. 11. Because of that, Reid didn’t have the most detailed updates to provide on any potential injury-related absences, but he did share some information on two key pieces on the offensive side of the ball.
The latest on Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco, RT Jawaan Taylor heading into Week 11
The Chiefs dealt with some injuries as they wrapped up the Week 9 tilt with the Buffalo Bills. They were without RB Isiah Pacheco for the game after he suffered an MCL sprain in the victory over the Washington Commanders the week prior. They also lost RT Jawaan Taylor during the fourth quarter of the Week 9 loss in Buffalo due to an ankle injury. Asked specifically about both injuries, Reid provided the latest updates.
“Yeah, well, I’ll have to see on (Isiah) Pacheco,” Reid said on Monday. “And (Jawaan) Taylor was feeling pretty good by the time he got back here (to Kansas City from Buffalo) and had left (for the bye week), so I think we’ll probably be okay there.”
Chiefs players on injured reserve
- DE Felix Anudike-Uzomah
- TE Jake Briningstool
- S Deon Bush
- LB Brandon George
- RB Keontay Ingram
- CB Nazeeh Johnson
- DT Omarr Norman-Lott
- DE Janarius Robinson
- CB Eric Scott Jr.
It’s reasonable that Reid would want to speak with Pacheco before promising something that he can’t deliver. Tracy Wolfson reported ahead of the Week 9 game against the Bills that Coach Reid had told her they expect Pacheco back after the bye week. It’s clearly something they expected to be a short-term injury, or they would’ve placed Pacheco on injured reserve, which would have required him to miss four weeks.
As for Taylor, his health should allow the Chiefs to go with the best possible combination at left tackle for Week 11 against the Broncos, provided Josh Simmons is in football shape after missing the past four weeks due to a personal family matter.
