Chiefs HC Andy Reid gives concerning injury updates on 3 players after loss to Cowboys with a brutal matchup coming in Week 14
Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid spoke about injuries to Josh Simmons, Jawaan Taylor, and Bryan Cook after the Week 13 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ 31-28 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving was an absolute bloodbath from an injury standpoint.
Not only did the Chiefs lose both of their starting offensive tackles during the second half, but they also lost their starting deep safety, Bryan Cook, to an ankle injury. Jawaan Taylor suffered an elbow injury and was eventually ruled out. Josh Simmons sustained a wrist injury and was ultimately ruled out as well.
The team actually fared well despite injury adversity on both sides of the ball, but in the end, it proved too much to overcome. Speaking to reporters after the game, Chiefs HC Andy Reid gave updates on the injury situation, as the team will now lick its wounds with some extra time to prepare for Week 14.
“Alright, got a couple of injuries here,” Reid began. “Bryan Cook sprained his right ankle. Jawaan Taylor hurt his right tricep there. Had a strain of that. Josh Simmons hurt his wrist there. So, we’ll have to see how those things recover.”
Early indications aren’t so great for the Chiefs’ rookie left tackle, who has been one of the best players in the league at his position this season. KC Star reporter Pete Sweeney reported that Simmons was spotted with a cast on his left wrist and his arm in a sling after the Week 13 loss. We’ll see what else comes of these injuries over the next 10 days before Week 14 against the Houston Texans.
Chiefs’ offensive tackle injuries are extremely worrying heading into Week 14 vs. the Texans
As much as the loss to the Cowboys stings, things are really getting dire for Kansas City’s playoff hopes. They need to win out if they’re going to have a chance at the playoffs, and even then, it’s no guarantee. The Chiefs’ Week 14 opponent, the Houston Texans, has one of the best defenses in the NFL. Part of the reason they’re one of the best defenses in the league is because of their edge-rushing tandem of Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter.
The two have combined for 21.5 sacks this season. It’s not exactly a game you want to go into having questions about the health and status of your starting offensive tackles.
Chiefs’ remaining 2025 NFL season schedule after Week 13
- Week 14: Texans
- Week 15: Chargers
- Week 16: @ Titans
- Week 17: Broncos
- Week 18: @ Raiders
Not to mention, Chiefs RG Trey Smith is expected to miss multiple weeks with his ankle injury. Kansas City may be down three starters on the offensive line for Week 14 against the Texans, with their postseason hopes hanging by a thread.
