The Kansas City Chiefs almost have their plan in place for the first preseason game of the season.

For a long time in this fan base, there have been fans mad at Andy Reid for his plans during the first preseason game of the year every year. Some of that is warranted, too.

Reid usually plays his starters the entire first quarter of the first preseason game, which can lead to a greater chance of injuries. On Monday, he talked to the media after practice and pretty much hinted at his plan being the same this weekend.

"I haven't. No, we're going through that though this week and making sure we get all that taken care of," Reid started. "But normally, if you have four quarterbacks, normally they get a quarter fee. So that's normally what you do, and then the other guys in there, but I'll give you all that down the road here as we get."

You would think he would potentially change it up after the season the Chiefs just went through with Patrick Mahomes and his ankle. Just because it's a preseason game where a lot of backup players are playing doesn't mean starters can't get hurt.

Does Mahomes need a few reps in the game? Yes, because practice isn't real; every starter needs some reps. However, a whole quarter may be too much.

If it were up to me, I'd say the perfect amount would be one possession, that way, Mahomes can try and construct a scoring drive, but he isn't in the game too long.

Knowing Reid and how stubborn he is when it comes to change, that won't happen. Things will stay the same.
