Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid updated media members on the latest injuries at training camp following practice on Wednesday.

Several players remained absent from practice, including CB L'Jarius Sneed (knee), DE Michael Danna (calf), Jody Fortson (shoulder), and WR Kadarius Toney (knee). There was only really one new injury to report after Chiefs P Tommy Townsend left practice briefly earlier in the week with an apparent ankle injury.

"As far as the injuries go, L'Jarius Sneed, we held him out," Reid began. "He's just got (a sore knee), a little inflammation in it. We're just going to keep that calmed down as we go. Tommy Townsend has a sprained ankle, but you saw him out here. It's not too bad. Michael Danna with a calf strain, still getting better. Jody (Fortson), you know about that. Nazeeh (Johnson) again, you know that one. Isaiah Moore and Kadarius (Toney), all of those you're aware of."

CB Nazeeh Johnson was placed on injured reserve on July 30 with a torn ACL, officially ending his season. LB Isaiah Moore was waived/injured on the same day. He cleared waivers and reverted to the team's injured reserve list.

One player returning to action on Wednesday was DT Tershawn Wharton, who was on the active/PUP list to start training camp due to a 2022 ACL injury. He's no longer on the active/PUP list, but Coach Reid confirmed that Wharton will go through a significant ramp-up period.

"Turk (Tershawn Wharton) has that great quickness and strength," Reid said. "A great combination there. A good pass-rusher and he's a strong player who has experience. Adding him into the mix is a good thing, a positive thing for us. We've just got to take it slow as we go with him and make sure he's OK. You know, ramp him up there."

Wharton did not participate in team drills at practice on Wednesday, however, he had some level of involvement in individual work. As far as a timeline for him getting back into the mix with 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 team drills, Reid wasn't ready to hammer anything down.

"We'll see," Reid said. "We try to keep open communication with him and just see how it goes day by day. And that's just the best way to handle these types of things with serious injuries."
