Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid opened his postgame press conference with his typical injury update. Reid was brief, but he confirmed that two starters on the offensive side of the ball suffered injuries and that both players could not return to the game.

First, RB Isiah Pacheco was formally ruled out of the game with a concussion. Later, RG Trey Smith suffered a calf injury and was replaced by veteran backup Nick Allegretti.

"As far as the injuries go, (Isiah) Pacheco has a concussion," Reid said. "And Trey Smith, his left calf was hurt, so we'll just see how that goes."

Optimistically, both players could return to the lineup as early as the Week 17 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. On the flip side, losing either of these players for any period could compound the issues on the offensive side of the ball. Concussions, of course, all vary in severity. We still don't exactly know the severity of the injury that Smith is dealing with either.

The offense already has enough problems as things currently stand without the injury bug. Having moving pieces at running back and on the offensive line will only create more problems down the line. Just look at how rusty Mahomes and Pacheco looked in Week 16 with their ball-handling after the latter missed a single game.
