The Kansas City Chiefs are losing one of its assistant coaches.
ESPN's Pete Thamel reports that Nebraska is hiring Chiefs assistant defensive line coach Terry Bradden. He will take over for John Butler, who was promoted to serve as the Cornhuskers' defensive coordinator.
Bradden has been with the Chiefs for eight seasons, four of which has been as the team's assistant defensive line coach. For his first season he was a defensive assistant, but then spent the following three seasons as the defensive quality control coach.
Prior to moving to the defensive side of the ball, Bradden played quarterback for three seasons at Howard University before transferring to Tuskegee University. Following his playing career, he worked at Florida Atlantic University as the quality control special teams coach. And then, he returned to his high school alma mater to serve as the team's head coach. Bradden then transitioned back to the college scene in 2016, serving as a quarterback graduate assistant at Bethune Cookman University. There, he was named to the first American Football Coaches Association Top 30 Under 30 class that year.
So after some time in the NFL, he's back to college. And now he's getting an opportunity to lead a room.
