How many NFL quarterbacks can say that their first-ever completion in the big leagues is to the greatest tight end of all time? Well, I’d say even fewer can say that. Kansas City Chiefs backup quarterback Chris Oladokun can say that.

Chiefs backup quarterback Chris Oladokun has his first NFL completion to Travis Kelce

“You’re out there, and you know, my first completion [ever] is to Travis Kelce,” Oladokun said after the game. “I’ve built a great relationship with him over the last couple of years, but if you had told me my first completion was going to be to him, I probably would have laughed at you. So, yeah, those guys are awesome, but we have a short week, and now we move forward.”

Oladokun was thrown into the fire, and his first instinct was to throw it to the greatest tight end of all time, and a guy who can still claim the title of the best tight end in the league, Kelce. I’m sure he didn’t expect Gardner Minshew to tear his ACL one week after Patrick Mahomes tore his.

So, the fact that he was as ready as he was, despite the loss, was great. Oladokun played pretty well, too, and made some throws that may get fans excited about these next two games, if there was anything to get excited about.

“Being here for four years, you always walk through when your first moment will be,” Oladokun said. “So I have really just attacked the four years like you never know.”

Oladokun has played in plenty of preseason games throughout his four-year career with the Chiefs. And he’s seen the best in the league, and maybe the best to ever do it in Mahomes, every single season. So, of course, the two-time Super Bowl winner was ready.
