The Kansas City Chiefs have completed Day 1 of the 2025 NFL draft, adding Ohio State LT Josh Simmons in Round 1 after a slight trade down with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Many talented prospects remain available on both sides of the ball at several position groups as Round 2 begins on Friday. The team is set to make three picks on Day 2:

  • Round 2, Pick 63
  • Round 3, Pick 66
  • Round 3, Pick 95

Here are the best available players remaining at each position (except for quarterback and specialist) for the Chiefs:

Running back

  • Ohio State RB TreVeyon Henderson
  • Iowa RB Kaleb Johnson
  • Ohio State RB Quinshon Judkins
  • Arizona State RB Cam Skattebo
  • Tennessee RB Dylan Sampson
  • UCF RB RJ Harvey
  • Georgia RB Trevor Etienne
  • Miami RB Damien Martinez
  • Kansas State RB DJ Giddens
  • Kansas RB Devin Neal
  • Auburn RB Jarquez Hunter
  • Texas RB Jaydon Blue
  • Syracuse RB LeQuint Allen
  • Arizona RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt

The Chiefs need to get more explosive at the running back position, and Brett Veach believes the class to be among the deepest in the 2025 NFL Draft. It's a safe bet that one of these players lands in Kansas City on Day 2.

Wide receiver

  • Missouri WR Luther Burden III
  • Iowa State WR Jaylin Noel
  • Iowa State Jayden Higgins
  • TCU WR Jack Bech
  • Stanford WR Elic Ayomanor
  • Ole Miss WR Tre Harris
  • Utah State WR Jalen Royals
  • Washington State WR Kyle Williams
  • Colorado State WR Tory Horton
  • Maryland WR Tai Felton
  • Illinois WR Pat Bryant

In the past three draft classes, the Chiefs selected a wide receiver on Day 1 or Day 2 (Skyy Moore, Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy). After passing on the position on Day 1, they could circle back to add another pass-catching weapon for Patrick Mahomes.

Tight end

  • LSU TE Mason Taylor II
  • Miami TE Elijah Arroyo
  • Oregon TE Terrance Ferguson
  • Bowling Green TE Harold Fannin Jr.
  • Texas TE Gunnar Helm
  • Georgia TE Benjamin Yurosek
  • Notre Dame TE Mitchell Evans
  • Nebraska TE Thomas Fidone II
  • Georgia Tech TE Jackson Hawes
  • Texas Tech TE Jalin Conyers

Tight end isn't a big short-term need for Kansas City, but it's absolutely a long-term need with Travis Kelce in the final year of his contract. The Day 2 talent has some intriguing names for the Chiefs to consider.

Offensive tackle

  • Minnesota OT Aireontae Ersery
  • NC State OT Anthony Belton
  • Boston College OT Ozzy Trapilo
  • West Virginia OT Wyatt Milum
  • Texas OT Cameron Williams
  • William & Mary OT Charles Grant
  • Kansas OT Logan Brown
  • LSU OT Emery Jones Jr.
  • UConn OT Chase Lundt

The Chiefs still need to address future needs at tackle despite the addition of LT Jaylon Moore in free agency and Ohio State LT Josh Simmons in Round 1. I'd wager they're probably done at the position until later in the draft when they can take a flier on a project.

Interior offensive line

  • Arizona OL Jonah Savaiinaea
  • Georgia OL Tate Ratledge
  • Georgia OL Jared Wilson
  • LSU OL Miles Frazier
  • Georgia OL Dylan Fairchild
  • Miami OL Jalen Rivers
  • Cincinnati OL Luke Kandra
  • Middlebury OL Thomas Perry

The interior offensive line is lower on the list of needs for Kansas City, but the competition between Mike Caliendo and Kingsley Suamataia at left guard doesn't inspire much confidence. It might be worthwhile if you could raise the floor on that competition with an addition in the draft.

Defensive end

  • Marshall DE Mike Green
  • Texas A&M DE Nic Scourton
  • LSU DE Bradyn Swinson
  • Ole Miss DE Princely Umanmielen
  • Arkansas DE Landon Jackson
  • Oregon DE Jordan Burch
  • Ohio State DE JT Tuimoloau
  • UCLA DE Femi Oladejo
  • Ohio State DE Jack Sawyer
  • South Carolina DE Kyle Kennard
  • Michigan DE Josiah Stewart
  • SMU DE Elijah Roberts
  • Louisville DE Ashton Gillotte
  • Texas DE Barryn Sorrell
  • LSU DE Sai'vion Jones
  • Central Arkansas DE David Walker
  • Ole Miss DE Jared Ivey

Brett Veach considers this D-End class among the deepest position groups in the class. Knowing how difficult it is to find starting-caliber edge rushers, they'd be wise to take a chance on one of these players on Day 2.

Defensive tackle

  • Tennessee DT Omarr Norman-Lott
  • Toledo DT Darius Alexander
  • South Carolina DT T.J. Sanders
  • Indiana DT C.J. West
  • Florida State DT Joshua Farmer
  • Texas A&M DT Shemar Turner
  • Maryland DT Jordan Phillips
  • Oregon DT Jamaree Caldwell
  • Nebraska DT Ty Robinson
  • Ole Miss DT J.J. Pegues
  • Ohio State DT Ty Hamilton
  • Florida DT Cam Jackson

The Chiefs definitely have interior defensive line needs. Knowing that this isn't the strongest or most abundant class at three-technique, they might need to move up and be selective if they want to find a contributor on Day 2.

Linebacker

  • UCLA LB Carson Schwesinger
  • South Carolina LB Demetrius Knight Jr.
  • Ole Miss LB Chris Paul
  • Notre Dame LB Jack Kiser
  • Oklahoma LB Danny Stutsman
  • Georgia LB Smael Mondon Jr
  • Penn State LB Kobe King
  • Oregon LB Jeff Bassa
  • Clemson LB Barrett Carter

Linebacker is quietly a big future need for the Chiefs when you consider that Leo Chenal is a free agent in 2026, and the team can save money if they cut Drue Tranquill. If value and opportunity meet, don't be shocked to see the team add a linebacker to the mix.

Cornerback

  • Michigan CB Will Johnson
  • ECU CB Shavon Revel Jr.
  • Iowa State CB Darien Porter
  • FSU CB Azarey'eh Thomas
  • Louisville CB Quincy Riley
  • Kansas State CB Jacob Parrish
  • Cal CB Nohl Williams
  • Kansas CB Cobee Bryant
  • Virginia Tech CB Dorian Strong
  • Kansas CB Mello Dotson
  • UNC CB Alijah Huzzie
  • UTSA CB Zah Frazier
  • South Carolina CB O'Donnell Fortune
  • LSU CB Zy Alexander
  • UCF CB Mac McWilliams
  • Nebraska CB Tommi Hill

With basically the entire cornerback room outside of Kristian Fulton set to become a free agent in 2026, look for the Chiefs to strongly consider an addition via the draft in the middle rounds.

Safety

  • Notre Dame S Xavier Watts
  • Penn State S Kevin Winston Jr.
  • Texas S Andrew Mukuba
  • South Carolina S Nick Emmanowori
  • Clemson S R.J. Mickens
  • Ohio State S Lathan Ransom
  • Virginia S Jonas Sanker
  • Oklahoma S Billy Bowman Jr.
  • Iowa S Sebastian Castro
  • Penn State S Jaylen Reed
  • Cal S Craig Woodson
  • Georgia S Dan Jackson

Another position with some future needs, given that Bryan Cook and Mike Edwards are slated for free agency in 2026. If the opportunity strikes and the value is right, don't be shocked to see Kansas City snag another rangy deep safety.
