The Kansas City Chiefs have made several moves to improve their roster for the 2025 NFL season, but which move stands out as their best thus far?

A to Z Sports' own Evan Winter and Sam Phalen (as seen on 'Survivor 47') are breaking down the best free agency moves for the AFC and the NFC thus far. What did they say about Chiefs GM Brett Veach's top move so far? They're highest on one of his re-signings, but it's a polarizing decision amongst the fans throughout the Chiefs Kingdom.

Re-signing LB Nick Bolton is the Chiefs' best move in free agency?

Winter and Phalen's choice for Kansas City was Brett Veach's decision to bring back Nick Bolton, the Chiefs' run-stuffing, green-dot-wearing defensive leader. Bolton, who is just 24 years old, is a former second-round draft pick in 2021.

Kansas City hasn’t been all that active after coming up short of a three-peat in Super Bowl LIX. The team’s best move up to this point is bringing back LB Nick Bolton on a three-year, $45 million contract.

Since entering the NFL in 2021, Bolton has stuffed opposing rushers at or behind the line of scrimmage on 4.7% of his run defense snaps. That’s first among all linebackers with at least 1,000 snaps logged. Bolton is a huge piece of Steve Spagnuolo’s defense, which should continue to be a top unit in 2025. – A to Z Sports' Evan Winter & Sam Phalen

This assessment is fair and primarily indicative of the outside world's view of Bolton. They don't see the coverage lapses or perceived athletic limitations. What they see is that he's a good linebacker entering his prime. He is super valuable to Steve Spagnuolo's defensive scheme and a big reason this team's run defense was a top unit in the NFL last season. He was also slated to be coveted by multiple teams had he reached free agency. Keeping a player like that should be considered a smart move, but the best move? That's debatable. I would've likely opted for the Chiefs' newcomer at cornerback, Kristian Fulton.
