The Kansas City Chiefs could have a problem on their hands if they don't fix it in the draft. Their receiver class is basically what they had last year only no JuJu Smith-Schuster, their number-one guy last season, and no Mecole Hardman.

They added Richie James and brought Justin Watson back. On paper, this isn't quite a group that can get it done. Not to mention the guy who is supposed to be the number one receiver in Kadarius Toney is injury prone, then you are running with MVS, Moore, Watson, and James. That isn't great at all.

They need more receivers, and they need more depth. They need size, speed, and athleticism at the position. Luckily they can still fix it in the draft, as they have 12 draft picks to do whatever they want. On Thursday during his media availability, general manager Brett Veach explained his thought on the room.

"Yeah, I think it's like a lot of these positions," Veach said. "I think you always are looking to get, more talent and get deeper. There are a lot of players we like and, certainly MVS [Valdes-Scantling], Skyy [Moore], [Kadarius] Tony, and we brought Justin Watson back, Richie James. So we have really good players and we can certainly go out there and line up and win games. But, I'd say the same about the offensive line, the defense line, and the receiver position, I mean, we're always looking to get deeper and more athletic and more talented. So, I mean, we're happy with the guys we have, but like every team in this draft, we can find ways to make our team better."

This receiver class in the draft isn't as good as we have seen over the last few years, but it isn't bad. It also isn't the deepest class we have seen in a while either. There are guys who can contribute right away, but not as many as you would think.

Be looking out for the Chiefs to maybe try and trade up for a receiver. They did visits with Zay Flowers from Boston College, Quinten Johnston from TCU, Rashee Rice from SMU, and Jaylin Hyatt from Tennessee, along with some other projected day two and three guys. All together they visited with roughly eight receivers.

They are interested, for sure, and they should be. Now it's about what they can do. For me, Johnston is a guy I would love to see them trade up and get. He has the size, and speed, and can make guys miss with the ball. He isn't the best vertical threat, but he can be. Either way, the Chiefs need to pick someone up.
