Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers get unwelcome news on the inactive players list ahead of kickoff for Week 15
The Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers will both be shorthanded in Week 15’s game.
The Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers have each released their inactive players lists ahead of their Week 15 tilt at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday.
Each team got some unwelcome injury-related news on the inactive players list, with a questionable player being made inactive for the game. For the third consecutive week, the Chiefs will be shorthanded on the offensive line with a trio of starters missing due to injury. The Chargers will also be down multiple starters and depth pieces on the offensive line.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the inactive players’ lists for both teams.
Chiefs’ inactive players for Week 15
- RT Jawaan Taylor
- RG Trey Smith
- WR Hollywood Brown
- RB Elijah Mitchell
- CB Trent McDuffie
- DT Zacch Pickens
- TE Jared Wiley
Chiefs CB Trent McDuffie won’t play after suffering a knee injury in Week 14 against the Texans. He was a limited participant in practice all week and listed as questionable heading into Week 15’s game against the Chargers. Chiefs DC Steve Spagnuolo spoke about how the game plan changed with McDuffie when he went out of the game last week.
“I was fully aware of it when it happened, and I’m asking constantly, ‘Is Trent (McDuffie) coming back? Is he coming back? I think he tried,” Spagnuolo said. “Yeah, there are things that we do based on where 22 is and where we put him. So, some of that went away, but for the most part, we stuck to the plan only because I felt we couldn’t venture too far from what we decided to do against that particular opponent, and, you know, see where we’re at with Trent this week.”
With McDuffie inactive, Kristian Fulton is back on the field for Kansas City after being a healthy scratch the past few weeks.
Jalen Royals is active for Week 15, with Hollywood Brown inactive for the game. It’s Royals’ first time active since Week 7.
DT Zacch Pickens, who was elevated from the practice squad for Week 15, is inactive. This was likely the Chiefs doing a favor for a player by getting him an NFL game check.
Chargers’ inactive players for Week 15
- WR Derius Davis
- OT Trey Pipkins
- DB Elijah Molden
- WR Quentin Johnston
- CB Nikko Reed
- LB Kyle Kennard
- WR Dalevon Campbell
Both players who were listed as doubtful by the Chargers, Elijah Molden and Trey Pipkins, have been declared inactive for the game.
Quentin Johnston, who was added to the injury report on Friday with a groin injury, has officially been declared inactive.
In total, four starters for Los Angeles across offense, special teams, and defense won’t play in Week 15.
