One member of the Kansas City Chiefs is attempting to help stymie some of the controversy surrounding the broadcast of the wild-card round game against the Miami Dolphins.
If you don't live within 35 miles of Kansas City or Miami, the only way you'll be able to watch these two teams face off on Saturday night is if you're a subscriber to NBC's Peacock subscription service. It won't be simulcast on NBC networks across the country, which has caused some fans to call for a boycott of watching the game on the platform.
Chiefs first-year DL Charles Omenihu was appalled to find out that the playoff game he'd be playing in was exclusive to a streaming service. He took to the platform formerly known as Twitter to make it known.
Omenihu reached out to Peacock because he wanted to "see our Chiefs fans happy." He proposed an idea and the brand happily accepted.
Omenihu announced on Tuesday night that he's giving away 90 three-month memberships to Peacock. All fans need to do to enter is reply to the tweet below. Winners will be picked on Friday, Jan. 12.
It's the perfect way for this first-year player to show gratitude to Chiefs Kingdom. They supported him through his six-game suspension early in the season, and his play on the field has since been dominant with a sack in each of his last six games. He'll surely continue that success in the playoffs, which is another reason to get as many eyes as possible on the game.
