Chris Jones just had a Defensive Player of the Year type of season. Did he win it? No. He was a runner-up. But, his defense is the reason he is a two-time Super Bowl champion, and I think he and the Chiefs will take that over an individual award any day.

But, this career season by Jones was just the start of things. People forget this guy is still under 30 years old.

The 28-year-old superstar was just listed as the second-best player in all of football by Pro Football Focus, behind his teammate Patrick Mahomes.

But, he says he is only getting started, which is scary for opponents.

"When you start putting goals on things, then you start putting limits on things. I think the sky is the limit for me," Jones said at an award show.

That has to be scary for any team that plans on playing the Chiefs in 2023 or further. He knows that he hasn't even tapped his full potential.

When Jones plays well, it's almost like he elevates the play of the entire defense. That's what we saw all season, and it's definitely what we saw in the postseason.

Before, his one flaw was that he hadn't yet gotten a playoff sack in his career, even with the crazy deep trips he has made. He did that this year and continued to prove everyone wrong.

Now we just wait and see what Jones cooks up in the offseason. I just know he is giving the Chiefs' 2023 opponents nightmares as we speak.
