An NFL insider is confident that the Kansas City Chiefs will strike a deal with star DT Chris Jones.

Speaking on the Pat McAfee Show, ESPN's Adam Schefter was asked about a potential deal between Jones and the Chiefs as we enter Week 2 of his holdout. While Schefter doesn't exactly have any sources or inside information that indicates a deal is imminent, he anticipates that a deal will eventually get done.

He referred to the recent Nick Bosa deal as an example:

"On the morning that Nick Bosa signed, I was told from both sides, there are huge gaps," Schefter said. "Huge gaps! And then, the deal gets done six hours later. My point there is like, it doesn’t really matter what anybody says. Chris Jones, at some point, is going to get this deal done, and it’s probably going to be rather quick and sudden, whether that’s today, tomorrow, next week, next month, or whenever. All the talk about being apart, you can close the gap pretty quick, I think that's what I'd say.”

Shortly after Schefter provided his take, Chiefs HC Andy Reid spoke to media members and gave a brief update on the situation with Jones.

"As far as updates on Chris (Jones), I don't really have any updates for you there," Reid said on Monday. "There is communication going on and that's a plus, but Brett (Veach) is taking care of all of that."

Sources tell A to Z Sports that Brett Veach met with Jones and his agents on Friday, just one day after the team's loss to the Detroit Lions. Jones was present at the game in a suite to watch the team's banner ceremony
