The Kansas City Chiefs currently have a controversy surrounding the team, within the team, and I guess you could say on the outside.

We are all aware of star kicker Harrison Butker and the struggles he has had lately. Most notably, he missed two field goals against the Houston Texans that could have put the game away.

That isn’t the controversy though. The controversy comes at who is at fault for the struggles. Is it Butker, or is it the holder, or is it someone else?

If you let former Chiefs punter Dustin Colquitt tell it, Butker isn't the issue.

Colquitt said on Twitter that while Tommy Townsend was a very good punter, he was an average holder on the field goal attempts, which could very well be true.

Of course, Dave Toub, the Chiefs special teams coordinator was asked about the comments from his former player, and he didn't take to them lightly. While he agrees that it isn't all on Butker, he knows that there is corrections that need to be made.

"Colquitt is definitely right as far as how much detail there is involved in it," Toub said. "There is a lot. But, everyone has an important job."

“He’s just trying to show you how detailed it is, and I think that’s great. … It doesn’t go unknown or unseen by us, I don’t need to hear from Dustin to make adjustments.”

Townsend actually took it upon himself to reply to all of the noise on Twitter, as well.

While I wouldn't go as far to say Colquitt doesn't know what he is talking about because he did do it for 17 years, Townsend is right when he says he just needs to focus on himself and not listen to the outside noise.

Butker had a response of his own when asked about the entire situation, too.

"Got to make the kick," Butker said with a smile on his face. "Dustin is a big Chiefs fan and obviously has given a lot to the whole community here, and I respect the heck out of him. I'm just trying to be the best kicker I can be… I just got to keep getting better, get everything down field and through the uprights."

Butker and Colquitt are very good friends, so it could look as if he is standing up for his friend. However, he could also be right. But just to top everything off, Townsend goes and wins the AFC special teams player of the week.

What are the chances.
