When the Kansas City Chiefs take the field for Week 13’s Thanksgiving game against the Dallas Cowboys, Patrick Mahomes will play in AT&T Stadium for the first time during his NFL career. The Tyler, Texas, native and Texas Tech alum has been all the talk leading up to Thurday’s game because of the homecoming factor.

Mahomes was a Cowboys fan growing up, watching Tony Romo sling the ball around the field to Dez Bryant and the like. He went to plenty of games in Dallas as a kid, but now he’s excited about the opportunity to play in his home state once again.

“Yeah, for sure,” Mahomes said on Tuesday. “Just getting to play back at home, and obviously have a lot of people in attendance that may not get to come up to Kansas City all the time and watch games. It will be a really cool experience to play there (AT&T Stadium), especially on Thanksgiving, and I’ll have a lot of family and friends in the stands.”

Mahomes won’t be the only Kansas City player with Texas ties looking to show out in their home state for Thanksgiving.
