The Kansas City Chiefs got their first taste of what's to come with new WR DeAndre Hopkins in Week 8 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Hopkins notched two receptions on three targets for 29 receiving yards on Sunday. He was on the field for 23 of 72 possible offensive snaps in Week 8's win over the Raiders. When he wasn't on the field, Chiefs HC Andy Reid says Hopkins eagerly awaited his opportunity to get into the game. Even on some of the plays where he wasn't targeted, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes noted that Hopkins was getting open

As the team and fanbase celebrated victory over their AFC West rivals on Monday, Hopkins sent the perfect message to get the Chiefs Kingdom hyped for what's to come.

"… just getting started," Hopkins wrote on X (formerly Twitter), quoting a video of his first reception with the Chiefs.

New Chiefs WR DeAndre Hopkins speaks to media members after his first game with Kansas City

Directly after the win over the Raiders, Hopkins spoke to reporters in the locker room who wanted to know what it felt like to play with his new team.

"Man, it felt good to go out there and play," Hopkins told reporters in the locker room. "We played a good team and got the (win), so it feels good."

Hopkins only got two practices in with the team ahead of his debut, which meant that no matter what his role was going to be limited. In the absence of mastery of the scheme and playbook, he leaned on his veteran prowess.

"I've playing ball for a long time," he said. "So, just being on the same page as my quarterback and him finding me."

Asked whether he ended up playing more than he expected in Week 8, Hopkins showed some of that eagerness that Reid has spoken of.

"Whenever my number is called, I'll be ready," he said
