The Kansas City Chiefs opened up their final week of training camp practice with some positive news on the defensive side of the ball.
Two key players returned to practice from injury on Monday, which has things trending in a positive direction after several players were missing during preseason Week 1. Both LB Nick Bolton and S Justin Reid, two of the team's defensive leaders, returned to the field for a rainy practice session on Monday.
It's a lighter non-padded practice as players get adjusted after their first game of the season, but it's still good news to get these guys back in the fold and practicing ahead of the 2024 NFL season.
Justin Reid passes physical, returns from non-football injury list
After showing up to training camp with a quad injury, Chiefs S Justin Reid has passed his physical and has been cleared to practice. That means he's been removed from the active/non-football injury list.
Chiefs Digest's Matt Derrick grabbed a photo of him coming down the hill ahead of practice.
Expect the Chiefs to ease Reid back into practice and be cautious in his return from injury to ensure that he's healthy for Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens.
Nick Bolton returns from an elbow injury
Bolton left Day 9 of training camp practice early with an elbow injury. He's back for a light padless practice on Monday, which is a good sign for his availability as we get closer and closer to the regular season.
Chiefs Digest's Matt Derrick also snapped a photo of him coming down the hill ahead of practice.
He's dealt with bursitis in that elbow last season, so expect the Chiefs to be cautious in his return from injury. You can see that he has a brace and compression sleeve on his left arm in the picture above.

Our friend Pete Sweeney of Arrowhead Pride, KSHB-TV, and 810 Sports Radio had the full list of attendance at practice on Monday:
Kadarius Toney is also back at practice after missing a day with back tightness.
No word on why Cook is absent from practice. Mettauer suffered a knee injury on Saturday. Brown is out of practice with his sternoclavicular join injury. Expect that RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire is dealing with an illness related to his PTSD.
