The Kansas City Chiefs released their first unofficial depth chart late on Tuesday night.

In the grand scheme of things, these initial depth charts mean very little to what the team's roster depth will actually look like during the regular season. A perfect example from the 2022 NFL season: Isiah Pacheco was the fourth running back on the team's first depth chart.

Roster depth is assured to change as the preseason, training camp and practices continue ahead of the regular season. With that in mind, here are some of the big changes that we expect to see, even if they're not necessarily reflected on the depth chart ahead of Week 1.

Given that they're all newcomers, a lot of these will relate to the incoming rookie class:

Wanya Morris - Chiefs YouTube presser 8/5
Chiefs rookie OT Wanya Morris

Wanya Morris won't be LT3, but rather OT3

All indications that we've seen at training camp practice are that the Chiefs are grooming Wanya Morris to be the team's swing tackle. He's getting repetitions with the first-team offense at left tackle and right tackle in 9-on-7 and goal-line drills.

Yes, he's also playing left tackle with the third-team offense as well, but I think we'll soon see in the preseason that he's a class above his competition on that unit. It's also important to get him as many repetitions as possible as he gets up to speed ahead of the season.

His biggest competition on the depth chart is Prince Tega Wanogho, who spent the entire season on the 53-man roster a year ago.

Keondre Coburn will ascend the depth chart

Coburn's power has been on full display throughout the course of the Chiefs' training camp. It's a bit surprising to see a player like Danny Shelton ahead of him on the depth chart, but it also makes sense being that Shelton has a year in the system after spending 2022 on the practice squad.

I really think this is all about gaining the trust of the coaching staff for Coburn. If he can prove during the preseason that he can do his job with no mental lapses, he'll easily jump up the depth chart to reinforce a defensive interior that's dealing with players returning from injury (Tershawn Wharton) and contract-related absences (Chris Jones).

Felix Anudike-Uzomah also should be on the move

As for first-round pick Felix Anudike-Uzomah, he's been getting better and better throughout training camp. He was a little behind compared to other rookies after having missed practically all the on-field work during the offseason workout program due to injury. He's beginning to pick up the scheme, but he's also flashed a ton of pass-rush ability and juice. It's perhaps been most notable in one-on-one drills, where his get-off and bend have been on full display.

It's important to note that George Karlaftis was also quite low on the initial depth chart a season ago and he wound up leading the team's edge rushers in snap percentage. Anudike-Uzomah should move up on the depth chart once Charles Omenihu's suspension begins.
