The Kansas City Chiefs made a huge pick in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft that will impact some recent signees. This offseason has been a little different for the Chiefs, because, for the first time in a while, they got to the draft and didn't have a number-one wide receiver.

It was their biggest need coming into the draft, well, that or right tackle and the Chiefs prioritized it in the second round. They wanted a receiver in the first round, but because of the way the board ended up falling to them at 31, were unable to get one. So, they went with one of the best pure-edge rushers in the draft.

In the second round though, they went with a receiver and one that Mahomes was a bit familiar with because of the offseason workouts in Texas. They went with SMU receiver Rashee Rice, and man, this pick is going to impact some people on the Chiefs roster.

Winners: Patrick Mahomes

This one is obvious, but Mahomes is the winner of this draft picks for a few different reasons. First of all, he now has another weapon, and when I say weapon, I mean an actual weapon. Rice is too good, and literally has just one flaw, his technical work off the line. Other than that there isn't one trait he doesn't possess.

But the other reason this makes Mahomes a winner is that this gives the Chiefs and Mahomes more security for when that Kadarius Toney injury does strike because it will.

Losers: Justin Watson

While the stats won't show it, Watson was a very vital part of the Chiefs postseason run last year and even had some very impressive plays in the regular season. His speed and size are what made the Chiefs like him enough to trot him out there during crucial situations. But, it's sad to say that getting Rice moves Watson on down the depth chart.

Rice is too good to not start out as this team's four receivers, at the lowest. He has the potential to be the wide receiver one too, but of course still needs to fine-tune some things.
