The Kansas City Chiefs have an ongoing contract extension dispute with Chris Jones, who also missed the Super Bowl ring ceremony.

Chris Jones is one of the best defensive players in the league. Last year, he was the best defensive tackle in the league, as Aaron Donald had a down year, finally. Jones is coming off his best season yet and wants a contract extension.

The extension would have been better for the Chiefs, too, because it could have cleared up a bit more money for free agency or even to bring back Frank Clark. Instead, they plan on waiting it out till around training camp.

The Chiefs and Jones have been through this same situation before in 2019. Jones skipped the first few days of training camp but ultimately ended up getting a deal done. Jones has already skipped the mandatory minicamp, losing around $98 thousand.

Then, he didn't attend the Chiefs' ring ceremony last week. Don't worry, though; he had a good excuse.

A fan tweeted at him asking why, and he replied, "I was sick." That seems like a good excuse, but how ironic. Either way, Jones doesn't owe anyone an explanation. We all want him to get his money because he deserves it.

Let's hope that's soon too. Let's also hope he gets well soon.
