The Kansas City Chiefs were surprised a bit when they didn't see something for a mandatory minicamp.

According to multiple media members who attended the first day of the mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, the Chief's star defensive tackle was absent on the first day.

Now, just like the name says, these are mandatory, while the camps and workouts previous to this one were voluntary.

The Chiefs and Chris Jones have been in contract talks for the last few months, and Jones' camp is expecting an extension before the season starts. Honestly, most of us are expecting one.

In 2019 he did the same thing but ended up holding out of training camp. Everything was fine that year, as the Chiefs would play in the Super Bowl that season.

Now, Jones is expected to lose a lot of money. Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, missing one mandatory day will cost a player $16,459. Skipping a second day will cost $32,920. And lastly, the third absence will cost them $49,374, which comes out to $98,753 if all three days are missed.

While the bigger picture is to make more money, Jones is still only hurting himself by doing this.
