The Kansas City Chiefs officially announced the re-signing of WR Marquise "Hollywood" Brown on Tuesday, March 11. Brown's return to Kansas City for 2025 also comes with a side helping of déjà vu.

Most of Brown's 2024 NFL season was spent on the injured reserve list after suffering a sternoclavicular joint injury in Week 1 of the preseason. He was officially activated to the 53-man roster on Dec. 20th, just ahead of the team's playoff run. In two games to end the regular season, Brown caught nine passes on 15 targets for 91 yards. In three games in the playoffs, including Super Bowl LIX, Brown was targeted 13 times, catching five passes for 50 yards.

Brown is running it back with Kansas City for another shot at a Super Bowl win. He got to taste it with an appearance in Super Bowl LIX, but they couldn't get the job done against the Philadelphia Eagles. That's not the only part of it that Brown is running back. . .

Brown signs virtually the same contract with the Chiefs in 2025 as he did in 2024

If you compare Brown's contracts with the Chiefs in 2024 and 2025, you'll be hard-pressed to find any significant differences. Here's the breakdown courtesy of the folks at OverTheCap

With the salary cap going up, it's actually going to feel a lot like Brown is cheaper in 2025 than he was last year. That'll especially be the case if he manages to stay healthy and can produce after spending most of last season recovering from his preseason injury. The Chiefs liked what they saw from him in the limited opportunities in 2024, so much so that they feel running it back can yield the results they'd hoped for just a season ago.
