One Kansas City Chiefs legend just retired on Thursday morning. And, when we say legend, we don't mean by his play on the field, although that wasn't bad; we mean by what he did off the field.
According to his Instagram, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, a former Chiefs and Jets offensive lineman, announced he is retiring from football.
That name may sound familiar to you. Well, LDT, as we call him, played in the Super Bowl the Chiefs won in 2019 against the San Francisco 49ers.
LDT was drafted in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft out of College Andre-Grasset (Canada). He started 57 games for the Chiefs in five years and eight games for the Jets in two years, all at right guard.
He is also known for stepping away from football and using his Ph.D. to help fight COVID-19 when the virus first started.
The football world will miss having a hero play on Sundays, but he was ready to retire.
