Chiefs should go after Allen Robinson after latest news
The Kansas City Chiefs could make one move this offseason that could make the defending champions even better.
So far in the 2023 offseason, teams are releasing very good players left and right or even making them available for trade, as it seems nearly every team is dealing with some type of cap situation. Even the Kansas City Chiefs could make some moves.
The Los Angeles Rams seem to be a team that is releasing or trying to trade anyone but Aaron Donald and Cooper Kupp. Jalen Ramsey hasn't been cut, but there were rumors that he could be cut or traded. Now Allen Robinson and Leonard Floyd are the two recent Rams players that are due to be moved.
The Chiefs should try to go after Robinson, as it looks like they could lose some of their receivers in free agency.
Mecole Hardman, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Justin Watson are all set to hit the market and test the waters. We don't really know if the Chiefs will bring any of them back, but we do know they like what they have in Kadarius Toney and Skyy Moore.
But why not add to that if they aren't going to bring back those three? I mean, the report by Tom Pelissero even says the Rams may pay a portion of Robinson’s $15.25 million guaranteed salary to get the deal done.
Allen Robinson is a proven receiver in this league and has had over 1,000 receiving yards in three of his nine years, including one year when he finished with 1,400.
If you look at his stats from last year, it would probably scare some people off. But, the 300 receiving yards need to be explained with more context before ruling him out.
Last season the Rams' offense was just atrocious. It felt like Robinson never got the targets he deserved, even when Kupp was out. Allen played in just 10 games, and only had 33 catches on 52 targets.
That was with several different quarterbacks and an offense that dealt with more injuries than almost any other team.
Now imagine what he could do with Patrick Mahomes. He still has a lot left, you can see it when you watch his tape. But, the Chiefs would need to put together a trade for Robinson, and I think they should do exactly that. Not to mention, he played for Matt Nagy in Chicago for some time when Nagy was the head coach, and he is now the offensive coordinator in Kansas City.
