Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes didn't finish the 2024 NFL season the way he wanted, but at least one of his current teammates expects that to light a fire in him.
Speaking to Kay Adams on the Up & Adams Show, Chiefs DE Charles Omenihu dove into Super Bowl LIX, his pending free agent status, and other topics, including what he thinks we'll see from Mahomes in 2025. It should come as no surprise that Omenihu expects the team's leader to be highly motivated after the three-peat fell short and things didn't go their way against the Philadelphia Eagles.
"On a revenge tour," Omenihu exclaimed.
Asked what that would look like, Omenihu described exactly what he expected from No. 15.
"Just extreme focus," Omenihu continued. "Taking even more control of the organization. We're going to get my boy Rashee (Rice) back, so that's gonna be great with how X (Xavier Worthy) has been playing, and hopefully, be able to figure out the rest of the pieces. But I think it's gonna be big time. Like he probably felt like he didn't have his best performance (in Super Bowl LIX), and him being who he is, and being the best quarterback in the league, he wants to come back and have one of those big seasons. So, I think it would be somebody that's on the mission for sure."
Omenihu, a pending free agent for 2025, doesn't know if he'll be part of that mission. However, he knows just how competitive Mahomes can be. It wasn't long ago that Eric Bieniemy was calling Mahomes a "competitive prick." The coaches see it, his teammates see it, and they know he'll be inspired to come back with something special after the team fell short of their goals in the biggest game of the season.
