Over the last few years, the Kansas City Chiefs, at some point in their season, have had to dig deep into their bag of wide receivers due to injuries, at least a few times. So, a team like them must have great depth and competition at the position.

This year, it really feels like they have done a good job of doing that. Of course, they brought back Hollywood Brown, Rashee Rice is going to be healthy, and they just drafted Jalen Royals. Add all of that to Xavier Worthy and JuJu Smith-Schuster, or what's left of him, and you have a pretty good receiver room.

Now, you are losing a few pieces too, like Justin Watson. But some of the guys they have signed as UDFAs are going to bring great competition to the room, which will be needed if they want to keep their crown in the AFC West with emerging teams like the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers.

Elijhah Badger is one of those guys who, no, may never start a game for the Chiefs, but could serve as some serious depth if he makes the 53-man roster. And, if he doesn't make it, then he will help with the competition in the room, and potentially make the practice squad.

Who is Chiefs UDFA WR Elijhah Badger?

Elijhah Badger played his final college season with the Florida Gators in 2024 after transferring from Arizona State. At Arizona State from 2020 to 2023, he became the team’s top receiver, with his best year in 2022, when he had 70 receptions, 864 yards, and seven touchdowns. He also excelled as a kick returner, averaging 28.9 yards per return in 2023.

Badger transferred to Florida to play in the SEC. He led the Gators with 39 catches for 806 yards, averaging 20.7 yards per catch. His standout games included 148 yards against Kentucky, 131 against LSU, and 123 against Samford.

The Chiefs likely signed him because of the speed he has, along with the ability to make guys miss and create plays. Andy Reid loves playmakers, and that's what Badger could serve as. However, there are concerns about his route running.

Either way, he is good enough to certainly at least fight for a spot on the practice squad.
