The Kansas City Chiefs did something on Monday that they don't typically do unless they're in St. Joseph, Missouri for training camp.

According to NFL Network's James Palmer, the Chiefs held a padded practice outdoors in the rain on Monday ahead of their Super Bowl LVIII tilt against the San Francisco 49ers. Now, this is interesting for a few reasons. First, the Chiefs don't hold a lot of fully padded practices. The fact that this was something the players insisted on having is pretty fascinating.

The best part about this, though, is the fact that they practiced outdoors in the rain.

If you don't know, the Las Vegas Raiders' Allegiant Stadium is a dome. So why practice in the rain? During training camp, Andy Reid likes the opportunity to practice in the elements because it gives players a real-life experience for something they might again experience during the season. That won't be the case on Super Bowl Sunday.

Things are that much more difficult practicing in the rain. Everything from ball security to footing to catching the ball all become tougher. Practicing in those elements could certainly pay some dividends in the Super Bowl. In theory, it'll make all of those small details easier. They won't exactly give Kansas City an advantage, though. The 49ers also reportedly practiced outdoors at the UNLV facilities on Monday.
