Kansas City Chiefs Detroit Lions

The Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions are two teams that don't play each other much because they are in different conferences. However, they are still familiar with what one another is doing.

The Chiefs know that the Lions are an up-and-coming team with an amazing offense. The Lions know that the Chiefs will be raising a banner on Thursday night and are still the team to beat.

These two last played in 2019, and while the Chiefs were just about to win their first title under Andy Reid and the Lions were still trying to figure out who they were, the game was extremely close.

That game saw the Chiefs get by with the hair on their chin, as the end score was 34-30.

However, there is one thing the Chiefs have going for them in this matchup.

Chiefs looking to repeat history vs. Lions

The Chiefs are 9-5 all-time vs. the Detroit Lions. Andy Reid is 5-1 all-time against the Lions. A stint in the '90s and early 2000s saw the Chiefs win four straight over Detroit.

The Chiefs have won the last two matchups against Detroit and scored at least 34 in both. Kansas City averages at least 25 points per game when the two teams play each other.

Not to mention, Mahomes has a 5-0 record in Week 1, where he also has thrown for 1,542 yards, 18 touchdowns, zero interceptions, and a 133.9 passer rating in those games.

The Chiefs have history on their side in this one and are looking to repeat it. Now, though, both teams look very different. The last time these two played, it was in Detroit – this time it's at Arrowhead.
