Chiefs’ inactives for Week 14 vs. Texans surprises with key decision that tips their game plan on ‘Sunday Night Football’
The Kansas City Chiefs have four tight ends active for the first time during the 2025 NFL season.
The Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans have each released their inactive players lists ahead of their Week 14 “Sunday Night Football” tilt at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
For the second consecutive week, the Chiefs will be a bit shorthanded on the offensive line, with three starters slated to be out due to injuries. The Texans have a few injury concerns of their own on the defensive line and in the secondary heading into a game with some enormous playoff implications for both squads. For Houston, the AFC South division is very much up for grabs, especially with the injury to Colts QB Daniel Jones. For Kansas City, they’re still fighting for a chance to get into the playoffs and make some noise as a wild-card team.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the inactive players for Week 14:
Chiefs’ inactive players for Week 14
- RT Jawaan Taylor
- RG Trey Smith
- WR Nikko Remigio
- WR Jalen Royals
- RB Elijah Mitchell
- CB Kristian Fulton
The Chiefs will officially be without three starters on the offensive line (LT Josh Simmons, RG Trey Smith, and RT Jawaan Taylor). It’s hardly the situation you want to be in going against the best pass-rushing duo in football with Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson Jr. on the edges.
With Nikko Remigio inactive, the team opted against making rookie WR Jalen Royals active for the first time since Week 7 against the Las Vegas Raiders. Instead, they chose to go with TE Jared Wiley, giving the team four active tight ends for the first time in 2025. This opens up the possibility of a run-heavy game plan with some of the team’s four-tight-end “T-Rex” packages.
Two of Brett Veach’s top offseason acquisitions, Elijah Mitchell and Kristian Fulton, will be healthy scratches, while Jaylon Moore will start at either right or left tackle for Kansas City.
Texans’ inactive players list for Week 14
- LB Jamal Hill
- CB Ja’Marcus Ingram
- WR Braxton Berrios
- QB Graham Mertz
- OT Jarrett Kingston
- DE Solomon Byrd
- CB Alijah Huzzie
The inactive list doesn’t do the Texans’ injury situation justice. They’ll be missing S Jaylen Reed and DT Tim Settle Jr., who were both placed on injured reserve this week due to injuries. CB Kamari Lassiter is active for Week 14, he’s going to try and give it a go after being listed as questionable. If he comes out with his injury, look for former Chiefs CB Tremon Smith to be his backup.

- Week 16: @ Titans
- Week 17: Broncos
- Week 18: @ Raiders
