The Kansas City Chiefs have completed their first practice session of the week ahead of their Week 11 tilt with the Buffalo Bills in Orchard Park.

The team welcomed back some familiar faces to practice on Wednesday, with RB Isiah Pacheco and DE Charles Omenihu returning to the field after stays on injured reserve and the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list. The team had some more welcomed news as the practice week got underway on Wednesday, with WR JuJu Smith-Schuster practicing for the first time since suffering his hamstring injury in Week 7 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid spoke on Smith-Schuster's chances to make his return in Week 11 against the Bills.

"There's a good chance he's back," Reid said on Wednesday. "We'll see as we go through practice, but it's up to him if he's back."

If the practice week goes according to plan, Smith-Schuster could provide an offensive boost in Buffalo. It wasn't all good news on the first injury report for the Chiefs, though. A trio of players, while full participants in practice, were listed with new ailments following Week 10's tilt with the Denver Broncos. That group includes star QB Patrick Mahomes.

Here's a look at the first injury reports of the week for each team. . .

Observations:

  • Patrick Mahomes, Mecole Hardman, and George Karlaftis added an ailment after already dealing with injuries. Mahomes previously had an ankle injury and is now also listed with a hip. Hardman had a shoulder and knee injury last week, but he now has a shoulder and toe injury. Karlaftis previously just had an abdomen injury, but he now added an ankle injury.
  • Unsurprisingly, Mahomes picked up another injury after being knocked around as much as he was against the Broncos.
  • DeAndre Hopkins picked up a knee injury and is on the injury report for the first time in Kansas City.
  • Some good news: Wanya Morris practiced in full. Andy Reid suggested that Morris' bone bruise is like a high ankle sprain, in the sense that it can easily be reinjured, but there is little risk of further damage.
  • Some more good news: Kareem Hunt practiced in full during the first practice session of the week after several weeks of starting off limited due to a quad injury.

Observations:

  • A whopping 17 players on the injury report shows you just how banged up this Buffalo team is at the midseason mark.
  • Watch Bills RT Spencer Brown's status throughout the week. They don't have great depth at tackle, so this could be an area the KC defense could exploit.
  • Bills HC Sean McDermott already ruled out a pair of players for the week
