The Kansas City Chiefs completed their first practice session ahead of their Week 8 contest against the AFC West rival Las Vegas Raiders.

Ahead of practice, Chiefs HC Andy Reid announced that DE Mike Danna and WR JuJu Smith-Schuster would be absent from practice.

This was expected given that Danna missed the Week 7 game against the 49ers and Smith-Schuster was already ruled out for Week 8's game against the Raiders on Monday. What wasn't expected is just how banged up the rest of the team is after their trip to San Francisco.

Here's a look at the first injury report of the week. . .

Observations:

  • The Chiefs have five new names on the injury report to start the week (Hunt, Chenal, Hicks, Reid and Wiley).
  • Andy Reid has joked about Kareem Hunt needing to spend some time in the cold tub after the work he's gotten over the past two weeks. As it turns out, he's not kidding. Hunt is banged up. He dealt with a shoulder injury in Week 5 and now he's dealing with a hip that has him limited at practice.
  • If you read our postgame injury update for Week 7, you'll know that Reid left the game briefly to get treated for his hand injury
  • Rookies Hicks and Wiley make their injury report debuts.
