The Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints have released their first injury reports ahead of their Week 5 tilt in prime time on "Monday Night Football."

The Chiefs will be without WR Hollywood Brown (IR), RB Isiah Pacheco (IR), and WR Rashee Rice (IR) as they start off the practice week, but that's not the full extent of their injuries on offense. Two more players were limited on Thursday. As for the Saints, they were without some key players in practice on Thursday. However, they also returned other key players who dealt with injuries.

Here's a look at the initial injury situation for both teams. . .

Observations:

  • As we first reported on Wednesday, Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt is dealing with an injury after Week 4. I'm told he injured his shoulder on his final carry in the fourth quarter against the Los Angeles Chargers. He was not on the field for the ensuing three "victory formation" plays.
  • The Chiefs are already depleted at wide receiver and Mecole Hardman dealing with a knee injury is another big hit to the team's depth.
  • Mike Danna could be good to go for Week 5. He missed Week 4 with a calf injury. How that injury responds to Thursday's limited practice will be key.

Observations:

  • As banged up as the Chiefs are, the Saints have their own injury struggles to overcome. They had six non-participants and six limited participants in practice to start the week.
  • Former Chiefs LB Willie Gay Jr. is among the non-participants. He posted images in a hospital on his social media account over the weekend. His return to Arrowhead Stadium might have to wait.
