Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence learned quickly from his 2022-23 quote about the Chiefs

This will be the third time in a year the Kansas City Chiefs will be playing one another. They played twice last season, once in Week 6 and once in the divisional round, and are set to face one another in Week 2 of the 2023-24 season.
The Chiefs are looking to be the first team to repeat as Super Bowl champions in nearly 20 years, and the Jaguars are looking to have their first repeated playoff appearance since 1999. And, in terms of this matchup, the Chiefs have history on their side, winning the last six against the Jaguars.
The Jaguars have great fans who are very loyal and have seen their team endure some pretty rough things. They have been through a lot and watched some really bad football for a really long time. Before last year, the last time they were good was Patrick Mahomes' rookie season.
So, their fans will bring it on Sunday when the Chiefs will visit Jacksonville for a noon kickoff. In this game, the Jaguars have that in their favor, whereas the last two times, the Chiefs did. Trevor Lawrence, their star quarterback, knows that it's a huge advantage for them, too.
"Yeah, it's going to be awesome. The home opener here, a lot of energy this offseason about us, about our team, about the season, and it's going to be exciting to see the Bank filled up," Lawrence said on Wednesday.
"I just encourage all the fans to come out and be loud. Let's use our home field advantage that we have, and we saw at the end of the season last year because that was incredible. It makes it harder for teams to come in here and play. Kansas City has a great homefield advantage when you play there, and I want it to be the same way here. Our fans have done a great job, so I'm excited for that."
It's funny that he mentioned Kansas City and Arrowhead Stadium as being a great home field advantage, but then he says he wants it to be the same in Jacksonville. Which makes sense; who wouldn't want their home field advantage to be similar to the best one in football?
But there is something about that statement. It's almost as if he is walking back what he said not too long ago.
"I can't imagine it will be much louder than our fans were here on Saturday," Lawrence said before the divisional round.
Chiefs fans hated when he said that because it was almost like he was saying the Jaguars stadium is similar in loudness to the Chiefs, and, well, that just isn't true. However, he is saying he wants the Jags' stadium to be similar to it.
Either way, yes, they have great fans, and yes, they will be loud and obnoxious, as they should. So, we will need as many Chiefs fans in Jacksonville as possible.
Chiefs open as road favorites over Jaguars in Week 2
Oddsmakers still believe in the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes.
