Chiefs make last-minute addition to injury report ahead of kickoff against Jaguars on ‘Monday Night Football’
Things are getting weird with the Kansas City Chiefs’ injury situation.
Update: Simmons is out there with the starters on the Chiefs’ opening offensive possession. We’ll hear more about his illness after the game.
The Kansas City Chiefs made a last-minute addition to their injury report just before kickoff against the Jacksonville Jaguars on “Monday Night Football.”
The Chiefs added starting LT Josh Simmons to the injury report with an illness at 6:53 p.m. CT on Monday. That’s just 22 minutes before the game is scheduled to kick off. He’s officially questionable for the Week 5 game on Monday night. This decision comes after WR Xavier Worthy was already a late addition to the injury report for a mystery ankle injury. Needless to say, things are feeling a little strange.
It’s worth noting that Simmons has missed some snaps this season due to what Andy Reid described as dehydration. It’s a humid 83 degrees at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville on Monday night.
According to The Athletic’s Jesse Newell, it appears that Simmons will try to get out there and play.
Chiefs add LT Josh Simmons to injury report after inactive player lists were revealed
The Chiefs decided on Simmons after releasing the inactive players list, so it’s unclear whether he’ll be in the starting lineup or sit out until the game actually kicks off. It’s worth noting that OTs Jaylon Moore and Wanya Morris weren’t made inactive, so Kansas City does have two options at offensive tackle available. If we’re to believe the Chiefs’ “unofficial” depth chart, Morris and not Moore would be next-man-up at the left tackle position.
