Kansas City Chiefs RT Jawaan Taylor will dedicate his Super Bowl LVIII performance to his late grandmother, Mary Taylor.

There was some confusion coming out of Wednesday's media availability, with a reporter inaccurately sharing that Taylor's mother had passed away. The Taylor family did suffer a tragedy, but Chiefs S Justin Reid quickly clarified that it was Taylor's grandmother who had passed away.

Taylor's mother, Wendy, promptly shared a message through Taylor's longtime offensive line coach, Marlon Lewis.

"Hello everyone, just wanted to jump on here and let you know that I'm safe, I'm alive, and I'm well," Wendy Tayor said. "Unfortunately, we did suffer a great loss on Saturday. My dear mother-in-law passed away. So the post that is going around that is saying that Jawaan Taylor's mother passed, it was actually his grandmother that passed away. The matriarch of the family. The sweetest, dearest, and kindest woman. We're going to miss her. She's going to be greatly missed by everyone, but your girl is still here by the grace and mercy of God. Continue to keep us in your prayers and last but not least, go Chiefs!"

Jawaan Taylor also issued a response to the inaccurate reporting from Super Bowl LVIII media availability.

He told reporters on Wednesday after revealing that his grandmother had passed away on Saturday, Feb. 3rd: "I dedicate this game to her."

Jawaan Taylor lost his father in January of 2022. He also lost his maternal grandmother, Gwendolyn Lewis, in 2010 and honored her during the 2019 NFL draft.
