Chiefs: Justin Watson breaks down similarities of Mahomes and Brady

Patrick Mahomes is already the most talented quarterback to ever touch the grass, or turf, whatever field he plays on, he's the best player on it. But he is also the most talented quarterback ever, and I'm comfortable saying that.
The Kansas City Chiefs are lucky to have a guy like Mahomes that has single handily changed the way the franchise is viewed.
Before Mahomes, I'd say a lot of people thought the most talented ever was Aaron Rodgers. Now, it's Mahomes, especially after grabbing his second Super Bowl MVP.
Even though he is considered the most talented of all time, he is not yet considered the greatest of all time, and he isn't really close. He still has quite a ways to go to catch Tom Brady, who is the GOAT, no matter what anyone says. You don't get carried to seven Super Bowl rings with two different teams by having a great defense every year.
Brady has done the work, and he deserves praise and recognition as the greatest to ever do it. But, I feel confident in saying that Mahomes has a chance to catch him. It will be hard, but if there is any quarterback in the NFL who can, it's Mahomes.
So often we try to say why one is better than the other, but we never really talk about what makes them both great. One former teammate for both of them, a guy who won a Super Bowl with both quarterbacks, broke down what makes them both so special.
"I think the thing that struck me most about Tom [Brady] was just how focused and how driven he was," receiver Justin Watson said. "I mean, you're around competitive people every day from playing football. He brought it to a whole new level and you can tell why he was the greatest just off that drive. And then when I came and worked out with Pat [Mahomes] near his house in Texas for the first time. I just saw that same drive. You know, that same hunger that's not going to be satisfied until his name, the conversation for one of the best to ever do it."
We have seen up close and personally, both of these guys display exactly what Watson is talking about. That fire, and will to win, we know Brady has it. He has that Kobe Bryant "mamba mentality" where he feels no one can stop him.
Mahomes has something similar, where he feels like there isn't a throw he can't make, and there isn't a game they can't win without him on the field. We saw a ton of that this last postseason after he got hurt against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Now that Brady is retired though, we no longer have to worry about Mahomes running into him in the postseason anymore, even though we all know Mahomes welcomes that challenge.
