Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid provided his post-practice injury update on Friday ahead of the team's Week 7 contest with the Los Angeles Chargers.
It sounds as if there are no changes to the status of WR Justin Watson, who suffered a dislocated elbow in Week 6 against the Broncos. He's described as having an elbow contusion and will likely be ruled out for Week 7 against the Chargers. The team also had another late-week injury in practice.
"As far as injuries go, Justin Watson is really the only major one," Reid said. "Jaylen Watson did get hit in the thigh today at practice just toward the end there. We took him out. We'll see where he's at."
Jaylen Watson joins the likes of Travis Kelce and Tommy Townsend, who have both been additions to the injury report during the 2023 NFL season after suffering injuries later in the practice week.
Mecole Hardman and Charles Omenihu set to make their debuts.
Two players are expected to make their 2023 NFL season debut with the Chiefs on Sunday. Reid said that both Mecole Hardman (trade) and Charles Omenihu (suspension) are trending toward being active on Sunday.
"We'll see, but I'm thinking it's going in that direction," Reid said. "Yeah, they did a nice job (in practice)."
We'll see if that's actually the case come inactives on Sunday, but there's little reason to doubt that both will make their return.
