With a win on Saturday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Kansas City Chiefs will be in some pretty elite company. But, then again, aren’t they always in some sort of elite company, or even a league of their own sometimes?
This upcoming divisional game won’t be as easy as some think it will be. The Jaguars are coming off of a huge win over the Chargers, and have momentum on their side.
But, with a win, the Chiefs will have done something that only two other franchises have.
Per NFL Communications, With a win against Jacksonville on Saturday Kansas City will become the third team in NFL history. to appear in five consecutive Championship Games, joining the New England Patriots, who advanced to eight straight AFC Championships from 2011-18, and the Oakland Raiders, who advanced to five consecutive AFC Championships from 1973-77.
The Chiefs have been considered the start of a dynasty by many, and the win over the Jaguars, clinching yet another AFC Championship, will certainly help their case. Since Mahomes has been a starter in this league, he has never not made the AFC Championship game, which is something not many can say they have done.
Kansas City is now one of those franchises that everyone looks up to and wants to kind of copy how they have done things. They are well respected around the league and a big reason why is because of their consistency of winning over the last five years or so.
It seems like every week we are talking about this team joining elite company, breaking a new record, or setting their own record.
