The Kansas City Chiefs have elevated another player from the practice squad ahead of the Week 1 game against the Detroit Lions.
News broke early that the Chiefs intended to elevate TE Matt Bushman in the event that TE Travis Kelce will be ruled out of the game. They're also elevating a player on the defensive side of the ball at a position where they're lacking depth.
The team announced that DT Matt Dickerson would be elevated from the practice squad. Check it out:
Newly-acquired DT Neil Farrell Jr. missed practice on Sunday for a personal matter. He was already going to be behind the eight ball, but that likely put him too far behind the curve. Expect Farrell Jr. to be ruled inactive for the Week 1 game.
Dickerson will likely fill in behind Tershawn Wharton, who is making his return from a season-ending knee injury. He got some run with the first-team defense during the preseason before suffering a turf toe injury that kept him out the final week of the preseason.
Then, of course, Chris Jones will be watching the game from his ivory tower in Arrowhead Stadium as he continues his holdout.
NFL insider Mike Garafolo predicts Travis Kelce will play in Week 1
We’ll see how it goes for the Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end on Thursday night.
