The Kansas City Chiefs could be looking to bring back a familiar face.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that veteran cornerback Steven Nelson is expected to visit the Chiefs on Monday.

"This visit, confirmed by his long-time agent Josh Arnold, could land Nelson back with the team he started his career with," Rapoport wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

A to Z Sports' Charles Goldman provided his insight on the news

"Don't hate the #Chiefs bringing in Steven Nelson. He was really good with the Texans last season. I was surprised to see him retire this year. He played better than he ever got credit for early in his career in Kansas City," Goldman wrote.

Nelson began his career with the Chiefs back in 2015, but after stops with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, and Houston Texans, he announced his retirement back in June.

“Retirement, after thinking it over and having some talks with my family, I think it’s time for me to take a step back and spend more time with my family,” Nelson told KPRC 2's Aaron Wilson. “We’re expecting a newborn this coming month and I wanted to devote all of my time and energy to that and various business ventures off the field. I’m extremely proud of what I was able to do in the game of football.

“Coming from a small town without a lot of resources, having to go to junior college, making it out of there to go to Oregon State, which was across the country from my family, going through a lot of trials and tribulations to get to where I am today and to be able to persevere and make it this far. I’m extremely proud of my legacy and my career.”

But, it seems he decided nine seasons wasn't enough.

Plus, he could really help the Chiefs solve a roster hole. Kansas City doesn't have much depth at cornerback.

Jaylen Watson suffered a fractured ankle in Week 7 that has sidelined him, while Nazeeh Johnson has struggled since his return from an ACL injury.

So, let's see if the Chiefs decide to bring him back.
