The Kansas City Chiefs not only won the Super Bowl this last Sunday, but they did it in walk-off fashion. They made every fan wearing red and gold, quite literally, have an anxiety attack until one-half of the fans wearing those colors were cheering.
That's the only way the Chiefs know how to win Super Bowls. The one in 2019 against the San Francisco 49ers was very similar. They were up by 10 points in the fourth quarter, and the Chiefs mounted a comeback and won by 11 points.
Last season, they won in a game decided by three points, which came down to the wire. That's just what they do. You will not see them blowing out any team to win a Super Bowl. The world stopped for a second when the ball was in the air on that last play, and Mecole Hardman was wide open. The anxiety was crazy, but based on what the Chiefs knew from the past, 2022, to be exact, they weren't anxious one bit.
"Yeah, so I came in on the fake jet and came back. We knew that play would mess them up because the last time we played them, I scored three TDs on Jet Sweeps," Mecole Hardman said after the game. "We figured that motion would soften them up a little bit. And it did."
Yes. It. Did.
Let's start by applauding Hardman for what he has been through and then having the game he had. The guy dealt with crazy, freak injuries last season after a great game against the 49ers in the regular season. Then, he signed with the New York Jets, didn't play, had injuries, the Chiefs traded for him, he played badly, and then had a huge reception and the game-winning touchdown in the Super Bowl.
