The Kansas City Chiefs head coach gave a crucial update on one of the starters for the 2023 season.
This offseason has had more drama than I'm sure we would have all liked to see. Between the possibility of a DeAndre Hopkins signing not too long ago and the crazy offensive line situation, there was a lot to talk about.
Now that things are calmed down a bit, there is the potential that two very important players could be on the Physically Unable to Perform list, or PUP list, during Week 1 of the 2023 season.
According to Andy Reid, we already know Tershawn Wharton will be on the PUP list. Wharton is the backup for Derrick Nnadi and Chris Jones. However, there is also a chance that starting running back Isiah Pacheco could also be added to the list.
On Tuesday, the Chiefs opened up to the media before the start of training camp. Reid was asked about any injuries, and he had this to say about Pacheco:
"We'll just make a decision on (Isiah) Pacheco as we go forward here."
That doesn't sound promising, but at the same time, this running back room is pretty deep. If Pacheco has to sit out Week 1 to ensure he is as healthy as can be, the Chiefs may do that. There is also the possibility he could not go to the PUP. However, he would then count towards the 90-man roster.
ESPN thinks that Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco could be a league leader this season
He could be a breakout player.
