The Kansas City Chiefs were a potential suitor for Pro Bowl receiver DeAndre Hopkins recently.

This offseason has been somewhat crazy when you think of the normality of the Chiefs' offseasons. They lost some guys, added some guys, and even had some drama on the offensive line based on some of the signings that happened.

Oh, and now you can add that the Chiefs were super close to signing Pro Bowl wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

One NFL insider revealed just how close they were to becoming one of the most elite offenses we have ever seen.

That brings us to the Chiefs, who I believe would've considered circling back. Teams involved felt Hopkins would consider taking less to go to KC or another top contender if the money didn't get closer to what Odell Beckham Jr. got prior to camps opening. Remember, the Chiefs worked diligently on a deal in April and had most of it worked out then (they'd talked about a deal with a $4 million base and upside to $10 million and had worked through trade terms with Arizona), only to have Beckham's deal (one year, $15 million) poison the well. – Albert Breer, SI.com

It all comes back to the OBJ contract that ultimately ended p hurting the Chiefs. So, you can think the Baltimore Ravens for screwing that up. But in all honesty, the Chiefs were the only team that Dhop was willing to play for on a cheap deal. Do you know why? Because coming to Kansas City increases your chances of winning a ring significantly.

By 2024, we could have been talking about Hopkins as a Super Bowl champ. Now, he is just on another Tennessee Titans team that will fall short of their expectations.
