The Kansas City Chiefs have an ongoing situation, and now there is a new layer to it all.

The Chiefs and one of their best players have been on different pages. Chris Jones, their best defender and one of the best defenders in the league, wants a contract extension after having an elite season, one of the best in the league.

He deserves his money, and we know the Chiefs like to wait out on these types of things. The thought is that they will wait till training camp. But, now there is a whole new layer thaat one NFL analyst just pointed out.

When asked if there was a defensive lineman in the league that could break the single-season sack record of 15, NFL Network's Bucky Brooks chose Jones.

"I'm going go to Kansas City, and I'm going to say that Chris Jones may have an opportunity to break it because we know Pat Mahomes in that offense, they will light it up, they can put 30 points on the board. Steve Spagnoulo loves to bring pressure, so that will create one on one opportunities for Chris Jones. He's coming off a season where he had 15; maybe he's able to take it up a notch and get past that 22 mark and set a new record."

Jones is a solid pick for this. Last year was his best, and he had 15 sacks as he was double-teamed. Now, the defensive line is better. The Chiefs got Charles Omenihu and Felix Anudike-Uzomah to help take some pressure off of Jones.

This only adds a new layer because of the contract situation and the fact that he could be one of the three highest-paid defensive linemen in the league. While I don't think Jones will break it, he will get close, which will only make the new contract even more worth it.
